This study is to explore factors contributing to the developmentofpedagogical content knowledge among excellent Islamic education teachers. This was a qualitative study which employed the case study method. The respondents were purposively selected and involved seven excellent Islamic Education teachers from several states in Malaysia.The data were analyzed using Atlas.ti. The study found that there are two types of factors, namely internal and external factors, which contributed to teacher knowledge. The internal factors identified were positive teachers’ attitude toward knowledge culture, easier in dealing, courage and passion forpreaching. On the other hand, the external factors were infrastructure, networking and colleague support. Element of knowledge culture among excellent Islamic education teachers was the main focus since it was seen as the main factor that contributed to the excellence of the teaching profession.
