PRODUKTIVITI VS PENGARCA DI MALAYSIA PRODUCTIVITY VS SCULPTOR IN MALAYSIA

Abstract

Penyelidikan ini bertujuan menganalisis isu produktiviti empat pengarca muda di Malaysia. Produktiviti merupakan nisbah output per unit input, namun output sukar diukur kerana tidak boleh menetapkan satu piawai untuk mengukur kualiti bagi seseorang pengarca. Di Malaysia, masih belum terdapat kajian berkaitan dengan produktiviti penghasilan seni arca oleh pengarca. Justeru itu, objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mengenalpasti cara pengukuran produktiviti yang terbaik bagi pengarca serta mengkaji hubungan kecekapan pengarca dengan pekerjaan pengarca. Penyelidik menggunakan empat pengarca muda sebagai kes kajian, produktiviti diukur melalui kecekapan dan keberkesanan dalam menghasilkan arca. Kecekapan adalah pengukuran nisbah arca dengan jumlah kos, dan keberkesanan merujuk kepada sejauhmana pengarca memenuhi keperluan masyarakat. Pengarca juga tidak mengambil berat dalam perkara yang berkaitan dengan produktiviti. Hasil kajian mendapati secara relatifnya, produktiviti pengarca di Malaysia agak rendah apabila kecekapan pengarca hanya digunakan dalam bidang pembuatan. Hampir semua pengarca menghadapi masalah dalam urusan pengurusan keseluruhan operasi mereka.

This research is to analyze an issue on productivity of four young sculptor in Malaysia. Productivity means a ratio per unit, however output cannot be measure accurately to state the standard and quality of output of each sculptor. There are no research has done on the productivity and output of sculptors artwork before. Thus, this research is to identified the best way to measure the sculptor productivity and output and to state the relationship among the efficiency of the sculptor’s work. Investigator identified four young sculptors as a subject of this research. Sculptor productivity can be measure through their efficiency and effectiveness in producing their sculpture. Efficiency is a measurement of the ratio of the total cost of their sculpture as for effectiveness refer to how the sculptor creates their work to meet the community needs. Sculptor ignored on the productivity of their artwork. This research shows that sculptor in Malaysia has low productivity in producing their artwork and they focus more on the creation of the sculpture. Most of the sculptor in Malaysia face problem in managing their overall operation.
