Abstract
The purposes of this study were to determine the level of emotional intelligence (EQ) among adolescents in secondary schools in Malaysia, and examined the differences in emotional intelligence among adolescents by gender, school types and school locations. Three instruments were used to collect data pertinent to this study, they were: Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (Schutte, 1998); Emotional Intelligence Inventory (Tapia, 2001); and Spirituality Questionnaire. Findings showed that the level of adolescent emotional intelligence was high except for the social dimension.
