Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the relationship between Islamic values (integrity) with soft skills among students of Higher Learning Institutions in Malaysia. The sample consisted of undergraduate students in the sixth semester of their studies at the MTUN (Malaysian Technical University Network) comprising Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), the Technical University of Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). The respondents numbered 480 people and a questionnaire was distributed to the sample using cluster sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 19.0 for the mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation and One-Way ANOVA. The results showed that there is a moderate but significant relationship between integrity and the professional ethics and morality. Data also show that there is no significant difference in mastering professional ethics and moral among students of the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN). However, data show high ability in terms of mastery of soft skills (professional ethics and moral skills) and integrity. Proper attention should be given to this realm in order to further enhance the students’ potential as well as to improve university performance.
