PENDAPATAN GRADUAN TVET INSTITUSI LATIHAN KEMENTERIAN BELIA DAN SUKAN MALAYSIA

Abstract

‘Human Capital Development Generator of Vision 2020’ is one of the initiatives by the Malaysian government to realize Malaysia's desire to build a developed, competitive and high income Malaysian nation by 2020. In conjunction with this, the Malaysian government has allocated RM8.8 billion to 545 government public institutions to target 60% of the 1.5 million new jobs are TVET skilled workers by 2020. Specifically, this study focuses on three (3) research questions. First, an independent sampling T test was conducted to identify whether earnings differ by gender. Secondly, Khi Kuasa Dua analysis is carried out to identify whether there exist differences in the income of their field of study based on the highest certificates. Thirdly, two-way ANOVA sampling is carried out to identify whether there exist differences in income of their field of study based on gender and the highest certificates. The total sample of this study was 3517 graduates. The findings of the independent sampling T test, there are significant differences in the income of ILKBS male and female graduates in their field of choice, t (3517) = 43.2, df = 3515, p> .05. The findings of the Khi Kuasa Dua analysis show that there is a significant relationship between the incomes of graduates with the highest certificates of Level 2 to Level 5. Phi Cramer's value analysis shows that both variables (highest income and certificates) are strongly connected. Analysis of two-way ANOVA shows that the interaction effect between the two independent variables (highest * gender certificate) against dependent variables also exists significantly (F9, 3496 = 4.37, k <0.05). This findings provide insights to policymakers on the importance of TVET sector in increasing labour mobility, improving individual socioeconomic status and wellbeing.
