CABARAN DAN STRATEGI AMALAN KEPIMPINAN PROGRAM DIPLOMA INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IBDP) DI SEKOLAH ANTARABANGSA DI MALAYSIA
Abstract
This qualitative study aims to examine the challenges in leadership practices of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) at International School in Malaysia. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 respondents comprising top-level leaders and experienced teachers in conducting this program at International School in Malaysia. Respondents involves are top-level leaders with multiple roles & tasks and teachers in various subjects teaching for triangulation. The findings indicate that top-level leaders and experienced teachers in various subjects face various challenges in ensuring the continuation of the IBDP program at International School in Malaysia. The findings also show leadership practices of top-level leaders and experienced teachers in various subjects have taken various steps and strategies to sustain IBDP at International School in Malaysia. The themes that arose in this study consisted of challenges related to external assessments, students, educators, teaching & learning, school facilities, financial problems and human resource management. The exploration in this study also discusses the various strategies that must be taken by top management and experienced teachers to retain IBDP at international schools in Malaysia. Implications of research on challenges and strategies in the context of the IB program at International Schools in Malaysia are expected to illustrate how environmental and organizational challenges can be properly organized to maintain IB programs at International Schools in Malaysia.
