KARAKTER KEPIMPINAN TEKNOLOGI PENGETUA DALAM PENGINTEGRASIAN ICT DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH
Abstract
In the 21st century, school principals face many challenges in leading organizations in tandem with the development of information and communication technology (ICT). Although principals are the most influential individuals in schools, there are no specific criteria that clearly define the role of principals in promoting ICT use among the school community. On the other hand, the leadership characteristics of technology leaders should be explored more closely to ensure that ICT integration can be applied effectively, especially in improving the quality of teacher teaching. Therefore, a study was conducted on among 130 teachers in four secondary schools in the State of Kedah through a quantitative approach. Data were collected based on 32 questionnaire items covering five components proposed by the National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS-A). Based on this study, it is found that the level of technology leadership of the principals is high when the mean score exceeds 3.52 for all components. In addition, there was also a significant difference in the technology leadership of principals based on school location, with p=0.02 (p<0.05). This situation proves that the secondary school principals in the State of Kedah have practiced technology leadership to increase the use of ICT in organizations. Thus, it is very appropriate for all principals to adopt technology leadership features so that the school administration system and teacher teaching implementation can enhance at a higher level.
