KEPIMPINAN DISTRIBUTIF GURU BESAR DAN KOMITMEN GURU DI SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN DI DAERAH GOMBAK
Abstract
The studies related to distributed leadership and teachers’ commitment are still seen less in the context of Malaysian education and among primary school teachers. The purpose of this research is to identify the level of distributed leadership and teachers’ commitment among national primary school teachers in Gombak district and the relationship between distributed leadership and teachers’ commitment with gender difference. Quantitative method was chosen to obtain the results regarding this study. A total of 348 teachers were selected as sample from seven national primary schools in Gombak district using simple random sampling. Survey questionnaire is used to collect data for this research where the respondents need to answer the five-point Likert-scale questionnaire. The researcher adapted the distributed leadership questionnaire from the Distributed Leadership Readiness Scale (DLRS) developed by Elmore (2005) and the teachers' commitment questionnaire was adapted from Meyer and Allen Commitment Theory, (2004). The findings revealed that with a total mean of 4.56 and standard deviation of 0.37, it shows a high level of distributed leadership implementation in Gombak national primary schools. With a total mean of 4.53 and standard deviation of 0.49, it indicates a high level of teachers’ commitment with distributed leadership implementation in Gombak national primary schools. Moreover, the Pearson correlation analysis shows that there is a positive significant relationship between distributed leadership and teachers’ commitment. It was also revealed through t- test that there is significant difference between distributed leadership and teachers’ commitment based on gander in Gombak national primary schools.
