Based on the National Education Philosophy, the management of Islamic Education in Malaysia has exceeded 30 years of implementation. During this period, various changes have been made in line with the demands of knowledge, skills, good moral values, responsibility, and the ability to achieve personal well-being, as well as contributing to the harmony and prosperity of the family, society, and the nation. To achieve this effort, Islamic Education has played a significant role in shaping society to face the challenges of the 4.0 era. Therefore, this study aims to revisit the issues and problems in the management and implementation of Islamic Education in Malaysia. This study was conducted qualitatively through content analysis using the PRISMA method. A total of 83 studies were identified from the Malaysian Citation Index database. Further examination of these articles has resulted in seven main themes of issues and problems in the management and implementation of Islamic Education, namely, teaching profession, access to education, student achievement, high-performance leadership, value inculcation, ICT utilization, and parent-community-private sector collaboration. All these themes further generated 27 sub-themes. Several suggestions are also presented, such as the need for more in-depth studies, considering specific study samples, and obtaining input from various expert parties to address the various issues and problems that arise in the management and implementation of Islamic Education in Malaysia.
